Thailand travellers’ most popular family destinations revealed

Bangkok, June 14, 2016 - With foreign travel so much more accessible for today’s families the world really is your oyster when choosing a family get away. Whether it’s seeking out sun and relaxation or adventure and activities, a family holiday together can be the highlight of the year and provide memories that last a lifetime.

Booking.com, the global leader in connecting travellers with the widest choice of incredible places to stay, today reveals that the most popular destinations for Thai families to get away to, what type of trips Thai families are taking, such as a sightseeing trip or a beach vacation.

The top five destinations which Thai families are visiting are Malaysia, followed by New Zealand, Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines[i]. And with more awesome places to stay than any other travel brand in the world, from small independent hotels to five-star luxury to guest houses, apartments, treehouses and even boats, Thai families can be sure to find a place that’s perfect for them at these hot destination spots.

1. Malaysia

Malaysia is full of great activities for kids with its theme parks and natural wonders. Legoland Water Park in Johor is a must-do with over 20 rides and attractions, or the island of Langkawi is a great place for the whole family – a tropical paradise and mixture of paddy fields, limestone mountains, jungle and beautiful parks. The capital Kuala Lumpur is host to numerous theme parks and shopping malls or why not venture out to beautiful national park Taman Negara for animal spotting and jungle walks.

2. New Zealand

No matter where you go in New Zealand, there is always plenty of things for the kids to do – from nature based activities to thrill seeking adventures, your kids will be spoilt for choice. Famously known for its stunning landscapes, they also act as the perfect base for activities such as white water rafting, hiking, biking, canoeing, zip lining and zorbing. If it’s not adventurous activities you’re after there are plenty of museums in Wellington and Auckland and an incredible amount of wildlife, including whale and dolphin spotting.

3. Indonesia

If you’re taking the kids to Indonesia, aim for a family friendly beach resort in Bali, offering plenty of activities for kids including snorkelling, jet-skiing, sailing and glass-bottom boat-tours. Bali also has a Zoo and Safari and Marine Park where kids can feed the wallabies, gibbons and camels. Away from the beaches, Ubud is another great family friendly base with its famous Monkey Forest.

4. Singapore

Singapore is a great family friendly destination and with its immaculate buggy-friendly pavements and spacious hotels it makes travelling with kids easy. Kids and adults alike will love Singapore’s Night Safari, Botanic Gardens, Bird Park and Wild Wild Wet Water Park. There is also the tropical Sentosa Island – you need a cable car to get there and the island is host to some of the best family friendly hotels, an aquarium, Dolphin Lagoon, Universal Studios Singapore and water park Fantasy.

5. The Philippines

The Philippines is the perfect destination for little ones, with countless islands to choose from that provide beach side fun! There are a huge range of family friendly resorts to choose from across Boracay, Bohol and Palawan and your kids will be kept occupied trying out zorbing, banana boats, kayaking and snorkeling in paradise. Manila is also host to Kidzania (an educational play city where kids can play different roles from fire-fighters to nurses), Enchanted Kingdom theme park and Hidden Valley rainforest paradise.
