Booking.com Reveals How Americans Would Like to Celebrate Valentine's Day

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, there is no better time to reignite the flame with your honey. Booking.com, the world leader in connecting travelers with the widest choice of incredible places to stay, commissioned a survey of Americans to see how they would like to celebrate their love for the BAE (‘Before-Anyone-Else’) in their life this Valentine’s Day.

  • Only 13% of men surveyed said they would like to receive a ticket to this weekend’s Big Game as a Valentine’s Day gift, while nearly half (49%) said they would prefer the gift of a trip with their partner
  • Half (50%) of women surveyed would like to take a trip with their significant other for Valentine’s Day, while just 8% say they would prefer to receive diamond jewelry for the holiday
  • Getting away to an island paradise is the preferred Valentine’s Day vacation (50%), with a comfy staycation the next most popular choice (29%), followed by snowy adventure (12%) and urban exploration (10%)

With the desire to travel so strong among those celebrating Valentine’s Day, Booking.com offers the following stay recommendations to swap in place of that high-priced material gift you’ve been considering for a #Baecation you won’t forget.

Library Hotel – New York, New York

While the Big Apple has plenty to offer for lovers, the Library Hotel is a premier destination. Check into the Love Room, which boasts a private skyline-view terrace along Madison Avenue, artwork based on the Philosophy of Love, and a collection of books that were hand-selected by famous American sex therapist Dr. Ruth (Westheimer). If that doesn’t quite do it, ‘awaken your senses and ignite your passion’ with the Erotica package. This package includes a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Champagne, a dozen red roses, an assortment of fresh Belgian chocolates, a Kama Sutra illustrated pocket guide and a 7 SINS OF LOVE pleasure kit - which includes handcuffs, a soft whip, and other intimate items, all yours to take home.

Little Palm Island Resort & Spa – Florida Keys, Florida

For those looking to heat up their relationship with the help of the sun, head down to the Florida Keys to the secluded and romantic Little Palm Island Resort & Spa. You’ll arrive to the island via the motor yacht shuttle and start your vacay with an ice-cold Gumby Slumber - a chilled champagne and fruit cocktail. Once you’re settled, step out onto your bungalow’s private ocean view verandah and cuddle up close to your boo in the private hot tub. During your stay, unwind at the full-service spa, on-site garden, library or in-house yoga classes to ensure you and your love are relaxed enough to reconnect again.

Ladera Resort – St. Lucia

Stay in a romantic paradise and escape to Ladera Resort in St. Lucia, a haven for lovers and the most magical backdrop for your Valentine’s Day. The open-air suites overlook the crystal waters of the Caribbean Sea and the World Heritage Piton Mountains. Spend time together on Sugar Beach or enjoy local island excursions including hiking, sailing and zip line adventures or indulge in wine tasting, a massage or simply relax in your private pool.

Hotel Jerome, An Auberge Resort – Aspen, Colorado

February means snow season, giving you the perfect opportunity to head out to Aspen to enjoy some time on the slopes with your snow bunny and then head back to the relaxed elegance of Hotel Jerome to get close and cozy next to a roaring fireplace. If you wish to take a break from the outdoors, book yourselves a luxurious spa experience at the on-site spa.

The Drake Hotel – Toronto, Canada

Pack your weekender and head to the Drake Hotel in the trendy West Queen West neighborhood of Toronto with your significant other for an urban lovers’ paradise. The Drake’s intimate, uniquely decorated suites offer turn down service with cognac, rose petals and you can even order sex toys from the concierge. The “Pleasure Menu” includes the Intimacy Kit (an assortment of condoms), an erotic massage bar, bondage tape, blindfolds and a 24-carat sex toy for a shy $600 (hello Mr. Grey).
