Vaccinated Travel Lanes - What's on Singaporeans wish list beyond Germany and Brunei?
We will soon be hitting the two-year mark since borders around the world closed, bringing mainstream travel to an abrupt halt. In fact, according to Booking.com’s recent Back To Travel research, 63% of Singaporeans surveyed stated that they have no plans to travel internationally until they have been fully vaccinated.
With vaccination rates continuing to rise - 80% of Singaporeans are now fully inoculated against COVID-19, alongside the recent announcement by the Singapore government that vaccinated travel lanes with Germany and Brunei will commence in September, quenching our travel thirst might soon be a reality.
Booking.com has compiled the top five destinations that Singaporeans have been looking at since the recent announcement, shedding some light on the other countries that they are hoping to have similar travel lanes for.
Top searched overseas destinations in 2021 for Singapore (in order), include:
- London, United Kingdom
- Dubai, United Arab Emirates
- Rome, Italy
- Munich, Germany
- Berlin, Germany
While the rankings are influenced by international responses to the virus, potential air travel bubbles, and how quickly restrictions are lifted, it proves that the above five destinations continue to be a draw for Singaporean travellers.
