Canada is Calling: The Return of the Classic Road Trip

With most travel on pause and social distancing, grounded flights and evolving travel restrictions all part of today’s reality, new research from Booking.com shows that Canadians are still very keen to travel again, once it’s safe to do so. While international getaways may have to wait, travellers are getting to know our own beautiful homeland, many opting for a good old fashioned road trip to do so.

Over half (51%) of the properties on Booking.com that travellers have added to their Wish Lists since March have been within domestic borders - a jump from 33% this same time last year. In April, domestic accommodation bookings accounted for around 70% of Booking.com’s total business - an increase on the long-term 45% average. Booking.com is on a mission to make it easier for everyone to experience the world both home and abroad, and with 1,600 rental car pickup locations across Canada, your trip can take you as near or as far as your adventurous spirit calls for.

With more awesome, unique places to stay than any other travel company in the world, Booking.com supplies Canadian travellers with the summer road trip essentials - great accommodations, a rental vehicle, A+ activity recommendations, and exclusive discounts, all in one place.

At more than 4,000 miles coast to coast, Canada offers endless possibilities for your road trip’s final destination - not to mention fun pit stops along the way. Toronto, Quebec City and Vancouver were found to be among the most popular domestic destinations being Wish Listed by Canadians this year. With this in mind, please let me know if you would like Booking.com’s recommended routes to each from anywhere in Canada, as well as recommended properties and activities for any type of traveller.

The classic road trip experience is a must-do for everyone’s bucket list. This year more than ever, an unforgettable open road adventure is calling your name.
