Beautiful, Welcoming & Inclusive Stays in Calgary

Whether a couple looking for a boujie getaway with luxury amenities, a young family seeking a pet-friendly lakeside cottage or a solo traveller who wants to mix work with play on their next business trip, everyone wants to feel welcome wherever they stay. Unfortunately, according to recent research from Booking.com*, almost half of Canadian LGBTQ+ travellers (43%) have had less-than-welcoming or uncomfortable experiences at a property where they were staying; for example, one in five (20%) have had staff assume they would need separate rooms or beds when checking in as a couple.

Focusing on the unique challenges and barriers that the LGBTQ+ community faces when travelling, Booking.com has just launched a new Proud Hospitality program to help hospitality professionals see things from a potentially different perspective and provide them with some practical skills and techniques they can immediately put into practice. For a sneak peek at some of the very first Proud Certified properties in Calgary (and across Canada), we’ve curated a list of sensational stays where everyone can rely on a welcoming experience, no matter who they love or how they identify. Travellers who want to #TravelProud should keep an eye out for the rainbow suitcase icon on Proud Certified property pages or check out Booking.com/proud to browse properties and find more information on the program.

The luxurious Fairmont Palliser and conveniently-located, 9-point Booking.com rated Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire have become Proud Certified.

Just down the road, the Fairmont Chateau Whistler has become Proud Certified, as have more first rate properties in Vancouver, Victoria, Toronto, and more cities across Canada as properties on. This program is truly freshly launched, and properties have been registering for the Proud Hospitality program by the day.
