It seems diamond laden jewellery is no longer topping the wish lists of Australian women, with new research showing they would prefer a surprise trip away instead.

With more than 1000 people across the country surveyed, it was found more than half considered a trip away the most meaningful gift their partner could give.

54 per cent of those in a relationship ranked a surprise trip as their most desired gift, and most of them are parents.
