Booking.com reveals trending summer travel destinations, both in the UK and beyond
Amidst an increase in searches after the latest announcement from the government, Booking.com reveals the on-trend places this summer, based on most searched for destinations
- Holiday searches on the increase: Booking.com have revealed an increase in travel searches since the latest announcement on lockdown restriction’s easing

After seeing an increase in searches following the government’s announcement, Booking.com can reveal that domestic getaways will be front of mind for UK travellers this summer.
Eight out of ten the most searched for destinations are now based in the UK, which is twice as many as 2020. Cornwall, Devon, Yorkshire and The Highlands have all seen a noticeable recent increase in searches.
Some of the top searched domestic regions for the summer months include:
- Bath
- Newquay
- St Ives
- Edinburgh
- Blackpool
- Bournemouth
- Torquay
- Inverness
- York
- Brighton & Hove
However, despite the emphasis on domestic, Brits’ desire for European breaks is still strong and in the top 100 most searched for destinations, Croatia, France and Spain are amongst some of the most sought-after international regions.
Some of the top searched international destinations for the summer months include:
- Barcelona
- Paris
- Marbella
- Rome
- Dubai
- Sorrento
- Malaga
- Split
- Marrakech
- Dubrovnik

METHODOLOGY/NOTES TO EDITORS
Trending destinations were destinations that were in the top 100 searched Summer destinations amongst British travellers in 2021, and had to have at least increased 20 positions vs the top 100 destinations in the year before.
Data captured from the month of January 2021, looking only at searches that had check-in dates during the months of June-September 2021. These rankings were compared to searches with the same date range last year.
