Booking.com presents Six Unique Stays with Famous Pasts

When thinking about their travel in 2018, more than one in three (36%) global travelers said that they are inspired to visit a destination because they saw it on TV, in a film or music video. Moreover 40% of global travelers say they want to stay in a unique type of accommodation they have never stayed in before.

With those two requirements in mind, Booking.com, the global leader in connecting travelers with the widest choice of incredible places to stay, has explored it’s more than 28 million listings to present six unique places to stay that were formerly occupied by celebrities or other famous personalities. So even if you aren’t rich and famous, you can at least live like you are while on vacation by booking a place to stay with a famous past.

Hacienda San Angel, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Located in Puerto Vallarta, Hacienda San Angel is an elegant boutique hotel with lush gardens and an open-air wedding chapel. The history of this one-of-a-kind hotel is filled with glamour and romance. Part of this beautiful property once belonged to the Oscar-nominated actor Richard Burton, who purchased the main villa as a Valentine’s Day gift to his wife, Suzy Miller. The Villa Casa Casuarina, Miami Beach, USA Also known as the former Versace Mansion, the stunning Villa Casa Casuarina was built in 1930 as an extravagant apartment building inspired by the Alcazar De Colin in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, the oldest Viceregal residence in the western hemisphere. Later it was purchased by infamous Italian fashion designer, Gianni Versace after he fell in love with the building while in Miami Beach for vacation with his family. Palazzo Margherita, Bernalda, Italy Built in 1892 as a true 19th century palazzo, Palazzo Margherita is located in the charming Italian town of Bernalda. Francis Ford Coppolo’s grandfather was born in this town, so in 2004 the famous American director purchased the property with the dream to transform it into a luxurious, authentically Italian boutique hotel and introduce visitors to this stunning region. Based on research commissioned by Booking.com and independently conducted among a sample of adults who have taken a trip in the last 12 months/plan to take a trip in the next 12 months. In total 18,509 respondents were surveyed (1,000+ from the UK, US, Brazil, China, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, India, Singapore and Russia and 500+ each from Australia, Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Hong Kong, Croatia, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden, Thailand and Taiwan). Respondents completed an online survey in August 2017
