Booking.com offers UK travellers 10% back in travel credit, as the world gets back to travel in 2021

  • Booking.com incentive gives travellers 10% back in post-stay travel credit, when booking a stay through Booking.com’s app
  • New initiative from Booking.com will help support the UK’s invigorated appetite to travel again, as it becomes safe to do so

Latest research from Booking.com reveals that after months of restrictions, our appetite to explore the world remains undiminished, with more than two-thirds (68%*) of Brits saying that COVID-19 vaccines make them feel more hopeful and optimistic about travelling in 2021. With Brits reigniting their travel ambitions for a new era of travel, 64%* say they have re-evaluated the importance of travel in their life as being more important now than before the pandemic started.

To help Brits on their journey back to travel, when it is safe to do so, Booking.com app users in the UK can activate Booking.com’s travel credit in the app by May 31st, then book a stay by June 30th for check-in by December 31st 2021 to receive 10% back in post-stay travel credit, up to £200.

“This pandemic has taken a toll on so many aspects of our lives and society, including the travel industry and the myriad of businesses it comprises, and it’s been truly uplifting to see Britons’ determination to move toward a better, brighter future for all,” said Glenn Fogel, CEO of Booking.com. “We know recovery will take time, and we know it will take the entire industry working together to get travel back on its feet, so we hope this 10% back in travel credits can be one small piece of support. With a mission to make it easier for everyone to experience the world, we’re introducing this initiative to help travellers to rediscover the places, people, cultures and experiences they have been missing, when the time is right. We encourage all those across the travel industry, from governments to businesses, to come together and implement solutions to support and revive the industry.”

With travellers eagerly awaiting to explore the world again and as restrictions start to ease in the UK, travellers can finally begin to plan their return to travel. Insights from Booking.com show that 64%* of Brits would still prefer to travel closer to home for the foreseeable future and 51%* said they would opt for lots of shorter trips over longer breaks (49%*). In fact, eight out of the top ten most searched for destinations by Brits for this summer are now based in the UK, which is twice as many as 2020.

Research also indicates that travel optimism and thoughts of reaching that dream destination again goes hand in hand with health and safety considerations, with 71%* travellers willing to provide a negative COVID-19 test before travelling, and 59%* to download an app for COVID-19 contact tracing. In turn, accommodation providers continue to do their part to ensure travellers feel safe, with almost 70% globally** having increased health & safety measures and improved cleaning processes.
