AHOY! Me Hearties! Explore the Caribbean Islands like a True Pirate

To celebrate the latest instalment of the popular Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, we’ve decided to celebrate with both luxury and adventure – by looking at all of the islands the Caribbean has to offer. Almost every Caribbean Island oozes piratical heritage, from Pirate festivals, to forgotten shipwrecks in the Caribbean’s top diving spots. We’ve trawled Booking.com to reveal the most pirate-worthy (and beautiful!) places to stay around the Caribbean.

Belmond La Samanna - St. Martin

Considered one of its liveliest islands, the glorious St. Martin is located in the northeast of the Caribbean. With casinos, clubs and concerts a plenty, there’s never a dull moment. Luckily you can recover from a heavy night with stunning views and luxury spa treatments at the decadent beachfront resort of Belmond La Samanna. Make sure to explore the traditional Creole houses, luxury boutiques and markets in the capital of Marigot.

Buccaneer Beach Club - Antigua

The West Indies is home to the friendly island of Antigua. With pink tinged sands, bright villages and colourful locals, you’ll feel right at home (but with a touch more luxury). Treat yourself to a brightly coloured cabana-style villa on the beach at the Buccaneer Beach Club aparthotel. Immerse yourself in pirate heritage with a sail around the islands or laze on the beautiful sun-drenched sands – either way, you’re bound to love this place!

Caneel Bay Resort - Virgin Islands

The beautiful US Virgin Islands, formed of St. Croix, St. John and St. Thomas are America’s Caribbean paradise. Make sure to visit the fascinating Salt River Bay National Historic Park, a living museum of tropical eco-systems. Exploring the untouched paradise of Annaly Bay is also a must. Set in the Caribbean Sea, the Caneel Bay Resort has seven private beaches, five on-site restaurants, sailboats, and kayaks for guests to enjoy – you’ll barely need to leave! The complimentary bottle of rum upon arrival is also sure to get guests in the Jack Sparrow spirit.

Wyndham Reef Resort - Cayman Islands

Escape to the Cayman Islands for pearly lagoons and unmissable diving sites homing some of the world’s most amazing aquatic life. Pirate enthusiasts should head over in November for the lively Pirate Week Festival, ‘Buccaneers in the Cayman Islands’. Festival goers will experience streets full of vibrant music, energetic dancing, exotic food, treasure hunting and a surprise pirate invasion of George Town Harbour. If you need to get away from all the piratical excitement, The Wyndham Reef Resort, set on its own private beach, will help you relax in style.

The Landings - St. Lucia

The charming St. Lucia is ideal for those with adventure in mind. It offers mountains, volcanic beaches, luxury resorts and cascading waterfalls. Take in some glorious views by walking up the pinnacle of Pigeon Island or visiting the ruins of Fort Rodney, perfect for any budding buccaneer. There’s also a thrilling zip wire ride for those wanting a little extra adventure. In the middle of the Pigeon Island Causeway Beach you’ll find The Landings. Here guests can walk the tropical gardens, swim in one of the three pools, soak in the two hot-tubs or relax in the spa.
